Finding companies in Azerbaijan: how to choose a business partner

firms.az editorial team2 min read

Start by defining what you need, where the work will take place and when you need the result. A clear request makes the company directory easier to use.

Define your requirement before searching

“I need a construction company” is too broad. “I need a renovation quote for a 150 m² office in Baku” identifies the work, location and scope. Record the product or service, quantity, location and deadline. If the budget is undecided, ask for an initial quote rather than inventing a figure.

Start with an industry, then narrow by keyword

Choose an industry in the company directory, then search for a specific product or service. Try alternative wording if the first search finds nothing: companies may describe the same service differently.

Search criteria will differ for IT suppliers and construction companies.

Check the company profile

Review the business activities, address and contact details. An address does not necessarily limit the service area: ask about delivery or on-site work in another region.

  • Does the company offer the service you need?
  • Are a phone number, email address or website available?
  • Can it handle your order quantity or project scope?
  • Who will confirm delivery and completion dates?

Directory information is a starting point. Confirm current services and terms directly with the company.

Compare a manageable shortlist

Use card view to read short introductions and list view to scan more results. Save interesting profiles for later. Start with three to five candidates and send each the same requirements so that you can compare their answers.

A short first-contact message

Hello. We would like a proposal for [product or service] for our office in Baku. The scope is [quantity or size] and the deadline is [date or period]. Please state what is included, delivery and support terms, and how long your quotation remains valid.

Replace the brackets with your details. Give the supplier enough information to prepare a useful reply. Then compare candidates using the supplier selection guide.
